Healthy, High Protein, Low-Carb McChicken Sandwich Recipe

Craving a McDonald's McChicken Sammy but don't want the calories, excessive carbs or nasty ingredients? Try this recipe!

Ingredients needed:

  • Chicken burger
  • Low-Calorie Mayonnaise
  • Shredded Lettuce
  • Cooking spray
  • Seasoning (salt, pepper, onion powder)
  • 1 Egg plus dairy milk (optional) for dredging

Start by setting up your dredging station. This is super easy. Simply crack and mix an egg in a bowl. You can add 1/4 cup of milk if you'd like and mix it all together thoroughly. The fatter the milk, the better, but that also means more calories. 

I bought Springer Mountain Fresh Chicken Burgers because they're cheap and already pre-pattied. Put your UnbelievaFlour with seasoning in a Ziplock bag. The Ziplock bag makes clean up a breeze. I used 1/4 teaspoon of each seasoning but you can season to taste. You can also use garlic powder and paprika. Mix the seasoning with the flour by zipping the bag closed and working it with your hands. Open the bag and drop your patty in. Reclose the bag, shake it lightly, making sure not to break up the patty. Pull the patty out and transfer to your dredging station.

Dip the patty in your egg/milk moisture. Shake off extra, then transfer the patty back to your Ziplock of flour, shake lightly again, then transfer straight into air fryer. Once in the air fryer, spray your patty with your cooking spray. Making sure to cover thoroughly with the spray. All flour must be wet from the spray in order for it to cook crispy.

Cook on 400 degrees for approximately 4-5 minutes or until it looks crispy. Flip and repeat for about 2-3 minutes. 

Prepare your sandwich by toasting the insides of the buns (this is optional). Apply mayo to bottom bun, then add your shredded lettuce, tomato (optional), patty and then top with the top bun. Eat and enjoy!

The macros are: 319 calories, 45.5 grams of protein, 5.8g net carbs.
