UPDATE (Week of 11/4): The bagels came out beautiful again, however we recently received a new batch of our proprietary flour blend and this blend seems to be making the bagels a little dry. You'll probably need wrap these in a moist towel if you're thawing in the microwave. And if you're toasting, you'll need to toast them less than normal.
UPDATE (Week of 10/7): These are beautiful! We were able to fix the issues from last week's batch. This batch came out nice and big and just like our first several batches.
UPDATE (Week of 9/30): This week's batches of bagels didn't rise as much as we wanted. We're still trying different techniques to get a good physical size, but also not too much rise. With too much rise, the bagels are too airy and lack the density that a typical bagel has. If you purchase bagels this week, know that they aren't as large in physical size but they are in mass size because we use the same amount of dough. Using the same amount of dough gives us the same, or nearly the same, nutritional facts as our buns.
Some products take years to bring to market (hence our bread loaves), whiles others only take weeks. These bagels only took weeks, much to our delight.
We didn't want a "baked" bagel. We wanted a bagel that was made in the traditional way, i.e. boiled. We had no idea how boiling our special dough would turn out and much to our surprise, it was nearly perfect on the first attempt. We've made a few batches since, so this listing is for all of the bagels we've made from those test batches. We think you're going to love them! These might be the best tasting bread product we've ever made. They're kind of addictive and so much fun to eat!
All bagels are hand made and are made with the exact same dough as all of our other products (buns, hoagies, flatbreads). That means, the nutritional facts will be the exact same on a gram-to-gram basis. There are various size bagels, so you'll need a food scale to weigh them if you want to figure out the nutritional facts. There are two varieties to choose from, traditional plain and everything but the bagel seasoning. The seasoned bagels will have a higher sodium content, but everything else should be nearly the same from macros perspective.
